About Me

Portrait of Kimberly, the creator of AccessibleDesignLab

Hi! I’m Kimberly Shaffer.

I am a designer focused on creating accessible, user-friendly digital experiences through thoughtful structure, strong contrast, and inclusive design practices.

My work centers on accessible UX/UI design, with a focus on color contrast compliance, alt text strategy, heading structure, keyboard navigation, and form usability. I approach design with empathy first, considering the diverse needs of users from the very beginning-not as an afterthought.

This perspective is deeply personal to me, shaped by close family members and friends who have experienced barriers due to visual, auditory, and neurological differences. I see accessibility as more than a checklist; it’s about creating thoughtful, meaningful experiences that truly work for people. Through my work, I aim to support and guide others in designing more inclusively with approaches that are clear, practical, and easy to apply.
